Shipping Information

 

We ship Monday through Friday via UPS and/or FedEx to all 48 contiguous states including Alaska and Hawaii.1,2  For next day delivery, orders must be placed BEFORE 2:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST).   Orders placed AFTER 2:00 PM EST will be processed and shipped out the following business day or according to the requested delivery date.   With the volume of shipments that we handle, we need adequate time to properly select and package your crabs.  Occasionally, we do take orders after 2:00 PM.  This exception is only possible if customers call us directly and receive our verbal confirmation.  We will confirm only if our schedule allows sufficient time.  We highly recommend placing orders a few days in advance to ensure proper handling.  Weekends and holidays are especially busy times for us, therefore, the more advance time your order is placed, the less likely there will be any problems with filling your order.  We process orders on a “first come--first serve” basis. 

 

All products are shipped by Next Day Air service due to the time sensitive nature of perishable goods.  Nevertheless, we strive to keep shipping costs as low as possible.  For those who live within the 1-day-transit proximity to Maryland, we offer ground and Next Day Air service along with Saturday service for an additional $15. 


We encourage you to compare the final cost of your order with others on the internet.  You'll find our delivered price to be very competitive.  

 

1 Hawaii & Alaska deliveries must be placed over the phone.

2 We can only ship out Monday-Friday. Deliveries will only be available Tuesday-Saturday. (Carriers do not operate on Sundays)

3 Ground service is only available for some areas in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, DC, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Ohio.  Orders requesting Ground Service is only offered if it is serviceable in 1 day.   If 1 day transit is not available with Ground Service, the customer will be notified of changes in delivery service and additional charges. All ground shipments will be delivered by End of Day for the carrier, which is usually around 5PM.  However, this time varies depending on location and can be as early as 2 PM or as late as 9 PM.
4 The maximum we can fit into one package is 1 full bushel of large/jumbo crabs.

5 Delivery commitment times for Saturdays range between 12 PM to 1:30 PM.
 

Acts of God/ Weather Delays

 

Adverse weather can be unexpected and can result in the delivery delay of some packages.  If there is any potential adverse weather at your shipping address, it is your responsibility to notify MDCrabbers.com immediately within 24 hours before the ship date to discuss a potential rescheduling of your product to a later date.  Sometimes, we may know of a weather delay just before we are about to ship your package.   In that case, we will immediately notify you on the status of your shipment.  We can also discuss a potential re-scheduling of your product to a later date.   Please note, neither MDCrabbers.com nor our carriers, Federal Express or UPS, will be held responsible for delays resulting in "acts of God".   This is stated in their shipping policies, and therefore, is also our policy.1  We will, however, do everything we can to get your package delivered ASAP and to minimize the chance of loss.

Shipping Restrictions

 

We are unable to ship to APO/FPO, P.O. Box's, extreme rural routes, and destinations outside the U.S.  If you are unsure about your address, please contact us prior to placing your order or obtain an alternate address that is a physical business or residential location.

 

Shipping routes, time of delivery, and cancelation of what was once deliverable locations change on a daily basis depending on our carriers’ policies, especially for Saturday deliveries.  We are not notified of these changes immediately and thus do not know until we prepare the package for shipment.  We apologize for any inconveniences that this may inflict, and we will contact you immediately when this impacts your order.

 

Address Corrections

 

Please be sure that you have entered the proper address before confirming your order.  Should you find a discrepancy on a delivery address, and inform us in time, we will gladly make address changes—or put the order on hold— for you, free of charge, as long as we are notified at least 24 hours before the ship date and you must receive the revised confirmation from us.  Correction on the day of shipment is not always guaranteed.

 

Address correction after the order has been shipped may result in a delay and a $15-25 address correction fee.  This fee must be paid before any correction can be made. 

 

We will not be held responsible for the spoilage of products or reimbursement of shipping charges and address correction fees should this occur from address correction.1 

 

1 Address change during transit is possible, but can be troublesome. Carriers can charge up to $25 for the change of address during transit.

 

Authorized Release

 

Please take note, we ship all parcels with Authorized Release, meaning if no one is home, the parcel may be left by the carrier at the door, and only if the carrier feels it is safe to do so.  Occasionally, carriers leave packages behind bushes or at conspicuous locations to avoid theft.  If the delivery address is a business address,1 commercial location, or apartment complex, the delivery driver will not leave the package without signature.  When possible, we recommend that you make arrangements to have someone available for the delivery.  Packages that are not left at the door will be returned to the station for re-delivery the following business day or will be available for pick up at the local carrier’s station.  Please be aware that we do not guarantee products after the first attempt of delivery.

 

MDCrabbers will not be responsible for any lost/stolen of your package or delivery delay and/or product spoilage due to the recipient being absent or unaware at the first delivery attempt. 

 

Since our peak season is during the summer months, hot weather is expected. We only guarantee the freshness of our products to the point of when the carrier drops off the package; NOT 1 hour or 10 hours later when you get the chance to open the package.  Please open you package immediately, inspect!

 

1 Many deliveries to business addresses are very early in the morning.  When we see this, we will request afternoon delivery since some businesses may not be open when the courier comes by.  Please inform us otherwise.

 

Returns, Cancelations, & Credits

 

At MDCrabbers, we strive for customer satisfaction by upholding to our promise of providing the freshest crabs and seafood products.  We will gladly issue you a credit or refund on the portion of product that was not delivered in good order due to our or our carrier mistake.  However, you MUST notify us within 2 hours of receiving your parcel.  Sending an email, speaking to a customer representative, or leaving a voicemail can be accepted. 
 
We reserve the right to inspect the products by requesting the crabs to be returned to us, at our cost. The disposal of products and packaging, the “keeping of products in the freezer for days,” refusing to return the product, or too busy to contact us within 2 hours of the delivery will immediately waiver your rights for a refund of any kind!
 
Once we receive the return order, we will inspect the package and contact you.  We will gladly issue store credits and/or refunds on the portions that were not delivered in the advertised manner.  We reserve the right to reship an order or issue refund/store credit.  However, the shipping fee will not be refunded.   
 
Any order canceled by 48 hours before the scheduled delivery date will incur a 5% cancellation fee.  This fee covers the sale and refund transaction fees from the merchant processor.  Orders canceled between 24-48 hours of the scheduled delivery date will be refunded lessen 10% restocking fee.  Orders canceled within the 24 hours of the scheduled delivery date WILL NOT be refunded.  To avoid the cancellation fee and/or restocking fee, an order can be put on hold until further notified.

Phone Orders

 

For all orders taken over the phone, MDCrabbers will e-mail order confirmations to the customer’s email address.  It is the CUSTOMER'S sole responsibility to review the order information, such as, but not limited to, delivery address, apartment #, suite #, zip code, delivery date, and product information.  If the customer did not receive an order confirmation email within 3 hours of placing an order, please call 1 .866.496.5063 to request another copy to be e-mailed. 
 

By placing orders over the phone, customers automatically agree to all of our Shipping Terms and Policies.  These information are available on our website and over the phone.

 

Over-the-Phone vs. Online Ordering


We do not charge more or less to place orders over the phone as compared to placing orders online.  If you have any concerns, we encourage you to call us.  We will gladly answer any questions you might have.

 

Regardless of whether you place a phone or online order, an order confirmation will be sent to your provided email address.  It is the CUSTOMER'S sole responsibility to review the order confirmation and notify MDCrabber.com of any changes via either email or phone least 24 hours before the shipping date.  All changes /corrections are not finalized until you receive the revised confirmation.  Any correction or modification to your order on the day of the shipment is not always guaranteed.

Privacy Policy & Fraud Prevention

 

At MDCrabbers, we respect our customers and understand that you are concerned about the privacy and the use of your personal information.  Your information protection is very important to us, and we consider the information you choose to share with us personal and confidential.  When you place orders, all sensitive/credit information you supply is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our databases to be only accessed by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential.

When an order is placed at MDCrabbers, we check all information provided relating to billing and shipping to esure accuracy and validity.  We will contact you and or the recipient for clarification if needed.   If we are unable to reach you, we will put your order on HOLD.  

 

If you are shipping to an address other than your billing address, we suggest you to contact your credit card company to add that shipping address to your account prior to shipping.  This way, there are no qualms regarding your desire to send a package to an alternate address.

 

Please beware that unauthorized credit card use for the purchase of products from MDCrabbers we will be prosecuted to the highest level possible.  We will, and we have, informed the proper authorities of possible credit card fraud, so that they can handle the case after it leaves our premise.  If your order is legitimate, this process should not affect you in anyway.  This is to prevent credit card fraud that is rare, but common in today's society.
